The recent forced managerial changes at many of Nigeria's top Commercial banks is a positive step that shows we don't always need the international Community to tell us what to do.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the CBN Governor who takes credit for these measures, has by so doing started fulfilling the promise that his appointment seemed to signal by his gutsy presentation to Nigeria's House of Senate just before his appointment.
Time will tell how much his measures will achieve, whether his 'wings' will be clipped, or whether he will be compromised.

Nigeria: Anticipating 2011 Elections
I'm not trying to be alarmist here. Afterall, so many fears were raised about 2003 and 2007, and despite the widespread electoral malpractice in these elections, Nigeria still stands.
But the signs are not too encouraging.
I wonder what role the ex militants, who are obviously getting disgruntled, will play. Last word was that they were harassing citizens.
Would it be a first if we ask the international community to organize this election for us?

Trouble for Nigeria Coach Siasia
GERMANY 3, NIGERIA 2. Nigeria out of Egypt 2009 with only 1 win and 3 losses.
He was warned not to take the job, by no less than Segun Odegbami among others.
Having gotten respectable silver medals at the Under 21 soccer tournament in 2005 and the 2008 Olympics, skies seemed the limit for this obviously thorough minded Nigerian ex-international coach.
He had soooo many enemies within Nigeria's soccer establishment who were simply waiting for him to fail, and fall.
Why he had to settle for this U21 side I cannot fathom. They were not strictly his boys, so the loyalty factor may have been at a minimum, especially when he removed the erstwhile captain, one of the acclaimed Yemi Tella boys from 2005 Under 17.
Now he will have to be lumped together with other 'local coaches' when the debate about Foreign Coaches inevitably resurrects.

These Militants are truly Nigerians.
When these Militants were in full swing, I thought to myself, did these guys really know what they were up against?
Didn't they know how many billionaires the Nigerian Oil Industry had produced?
Didn't they realize that over and above the problems of the Niger Delta were the very very huge and vested interests of the Western World Powers in Nigerian Oil? The situation in the Niger delta always had an immediate impact on Global Oil prices.
Of Course, had it been these technological Giants had managed to come up with an alternative to Crude Oil, all of this will be Nigeria's business. Period!
It would only be a matter of time before the Nigerian Government will revert to a Military solution, which has always seemed to work for them, so why change?
The local and foreign interests being hurt were simply too powerful for a peaceful solution to the militancy to be the dominant idea.
The Militants, being true Nigerians, are mostly now singing a new tune now that they know the government is "serious" about ending the Militancy by any means necessary.
The Amnesty is being lapped up like ice cream, as if to confirm that most of the Militants were themselves opportunists seeking their own share of Nigeria's largely misspent oil booty.
Problem is, will this Amnesty Solution be permanent?

He was by all means a brilliant Lawyer. They couldn't deny him the SAN forever.
It not for him , Moshood Abiola will probably have abandoned the June 12 struggle.
He got the respect of even the Military Tyrants more than any other Nigerian human rights activist.
He was never tainted in any scandal.
